Forgot to Winterize the Bike!!

Well I'm back and I've already got some problems!
I stopped riding my back about 5 or 6 months ago because the fork seals were leaking pretty bad and I didn't have time or money to get them fixed.
I didn't do any winterizing of the bike and now it won't start, imagine that.
Today I siphoned out the old gas, took the spark plugs out and let them dry out a bit, took the airbox off and sprayed carb cleaner in the carbs (from what I could see they looked really good), put everything back on and put some new gas and some HEET in the gas and tried to fire it up. Got a couple pops from the exhaust like it wanted to start and a small plum of purply blue smoke came out, but I never could get it to turn over completely and stay running.
What is my next step?
