Hello all,
As the title says my name is John and I have been living in Portland Oregon for 35 years now, besides the 4 that I spent in the Navy serving as an Intelligence Specialist Second Class Petty Officer.
I am a family man, married with one especially brilliant little man that I can't get enough of hanging out with. I am currently working as an EMT for a company that evaluates and transports individuals that are under the influence of drugs, alcohol and prescription medications. We transport these people to a Sobering Station, commonly known as a "drunk tank." I am pursuing a career in law enforcement and am in a couple background investigation processes as we speak.
I have been riding motorcycles for somewhere around 16 years now. I have owned a 1980 Yamaha Magna which found a different owner when I let it sit after it needed a bunch or work. I currently own a 1996 Yamaha Seca II and a Baja SC150 scooter. The Seca is at a mechanic as we speak. The bike needed a lot of work, especially the carbs. Im being told now that it will be around a $700 job just to rebuild the carbs or $1200 job to replace them all.
I originally got the Seca because I wanted to work on the bike myself and do the naked conversion to it. But after having my boy all the projects got put on hold and I just continued to ride my little scooter as I kept staring at the Seca in the garage and wishing I had the time to turn some wrenches on it. One of my co-workers told me about an affordable mechanic to have the Seca worked on and I jumped at the chance to get it fixed.
Im really looking to the day when I get the motorcycle back, I've already cooked up some rides that I want to put together for my dad, uncle and brother in-law all to go on together.
I look forward to learning as much as I can from the community here and also getting to know as many people as possible. Hopefully there will be some Seca riders here in Portland that would want to get together some day too and grab a coffee and chat.

Thanks all,
NFD
