Uh oh...

So here's how it all started. I was surfing around eBay last week (mistake #1), and I came across a gently used D&D 4-2-1 exhaust system that came off of a '93 Seca. I've always wanted to do something about the exhaust system, to give it a little more tone, and to get the mufflers off of the ground a bit to avoid scraping. The price was right at $150, so I bit. It came in last night, and I installed it this morning. Here's what it looks like:

Unfortunately, I had to remove my center stand to get the exhaust to fit, but I was willing to cope with that. But as soon as I cranked the bike, I knew that I had a problem. This thing is LOUD!!!!! As in, ear splitting, deafeningly, annoyingly loud. I took it on a test ride to see how it would sound on the street, and my suspicions were confirmed: this thing is just way too loud. They say "a loud bike is a safe bike." Well I must have the safest bike in the city, because the noise turned a lot of heads, but not in a good way. I could almost see them mouth the words "Look at that [insert expletive here]." I would like the bike to be loud enough to be heard, but I don't care to be heard 3 miles away. I'd like to keep the header and pipes, so I figure I can find a slip-on muffler to control the noise a bit better. Does anyone have any recommendations? The pipe leading to the muffler is a 2".
