Soft saddle bags?

Hey guys,
I was thinking of picking up some soft saddle bags for the XJ. Since I work at a bike shop I get pro-deal pricing on Ogio and Ortlieb, both make some sweet cycle bags. The only thing is I don't know how exactly they would attach to the bike. I'd prefer not to get a rack on the bike. It looks like they just drap over the seat but that can't be very stable, what holds them in place? If someone has pics that would help. I just wanted to get some info before I commit to a purcahse. Thanks
