Pannier Rack Fouling Exhaust

Hey guys, i picked up a bargain a few weeks ago. A pair of Hepco and Becker brand new pannier racks for the xj600, normally these things cost around £300, i won them for around £25 off ebay!! I was astounded.
Next i went looking for some nice boxes, so picked up some Junior Hepco's for £140, which are around £300 new. Good set-up me thinks
But now i've hit a problem... The bike came with a Motad Nexxus on it, which is quite a bit more up-swept then the orignal exhaust.. So i need to find a solution. I'll try and post some photos to give a perspective.
My Exhaust..

Orignal Exhaust..

Fouling bits..

Circled in red are the mounting points..

The only viable idea i could see was making up a longer exhaust bracket to push the exhaust down a few cm... But would this put pressure on the headers? And would it then not seal correctly?
Cheers
