Wiring Question, the rear signals

I've a quick question for everyone. Are your rear turn signals also running lights? If yes, how many wires have you got running to them, and is it stock?
I'm asking because while I was tuning the bike on the weekend, I noticed the front turn signals act as running lights as well. The rears don't. Nothing has been rewired on the bike as far as I can tell and there are only two wires for the rear signals, coming out of the lights, and going in form the harness. The fronts have three. This matches the wiring diagram for a 97 u.s. bike. Doesn't mean too much as none of the fsm diagrams specifically state Canadian bikes. However all other years show only two wires to the front and two to the back. None of the diagrams show a third wire to the rears.
I'm getting ready to bring the bike in to safety in the next week or two and I thought it odd that one end had the signals wired for running but the other end did not. If it's factory then I won't have to worry about it during the inspection.
