Hey Everyone,

I am a New Rider and the 93 XJ S is my first bke. It is new to me with 2300 original miles and as original as it comes. I have done so stuff here and there to get it running but currently have an issue that I can't seem to figure out.

My bike will only run on cylinders 1 and 2 while on choke. (headers for cylinders 3 and 4 stay cold) If I leave it like this for about 15 minutes I can take it off choke and all cylinders kick in and it idles great. Or I can start it with starting fluid sprays every 20 seconds for about 1 minute then it will idle on its own. I have no clue what the problem is. The carbs were completely torn down and rebuilt with all new everything (minus the butterfly shafts).

Any help would be appreciated.

Update:

So the only thing that I can find that connects cylinder 3 and 4 on the enrichment circuit is the air tube on the top of the carbs that connects the two. My understanding (even though I am using bro science) is that that tube pulls extra air for the enrichment circuit. So on a whim I decided to blow air into this tube. Well it seems to work for a second. The bike picks up revs and the two cylinders seem to kick in. Then like 3 seconds later they seem to die back out.

I am assuming this means the cylinders are running extremely rich on those cylinders while the choke is on. To the point where it does not allow the cylinders to fire. So now I am trying to figure out what would cause these cylinders to run that rich but only on the enrichment circuit.

Thanks
