Hi fellow XJs

Mark here from Denmark.

Bought a 1997 XJ600 UK-spec last year.
All original, but I went for a more aggressive monster-looking renovation.

So two weeks ago I dropped the engine out, changed the seals, cleaned and painted the block.

While connecting the loom I confused the ground wire from the starter solenoid for the negative. So I ended up putting the red positive wire from the solenoid on the positiv and the ground on the negative on the battery.

The result was a very hot and smokey solenoid.

I found the mistake and made the right connections, and the solenoid works, the starter works, the engine turns, but no spark.

Could my wiring mistake have shorted out the assembly relay or the ignitor unit, so the ignition coils doesn’t any juice?
