i bought my 99 xj back in sept before this it was sat up for 10 years, so when i got it the clutch plates was stuck together and the chain had some frozen links sorted all this out as well as new tires and a carb clean she was good to go.
ran fine until jan when the exhaust rusted out and replaced this with 421 stainless, any how for all this time the bike had a small power drop or hunting when sitting at 1/4 it is at its worst when sat on a motorway so around 5000rpm 70mph when the hunting happens the exhaust note changes .
the problem is not a big power drop so dose not show on the revcounter but can feel it in the bike if you pull over the 1/4 throttle then it passes so its not there under hard acceleration.
