Hello,
I have an annoying issue when starting my Xj600 51J (1989). When pushing the start button, the relay makes a click (with the oil light on) and the starter does not turn. However, if I put the (first) gear in and move the bike either a bit backwards or forward (making sure that the gear is not blocking in any way)(it does not matter if the gear in and the clutch disengaged or not), I am able to start - the started turns and the bike start without any issues.
Does this sound more like a starter problem (brushes, perhaps) or is it the clutch (not engaging or disengaging properly)?
Thanks!
