Just bought a XJ/FJ600

Hi everyone. I'm an owner of a new (to me) 1984 Yamaha FJ600 or XJ I've been told they're pretty similar. Looking for some advice and some help repairing it. Some one told me to come here. Thanks for your time
It's been a rough day. I got up this morning put on a shirt the button fell off. Picked up my briefcase the handle came off. I'm afraid to go the bathroom.
