Hi
I removed all the bolts holding the crankcase together...26 of them...No 22, was...below the oil pump, and not easily finadable, being 3 inches away from the No 22 marked on the outside of the crankcase, all part of the fun.
I of course followed the advice of Haynes and unscrewed in reverse order, cracked them all, then removed them in reverse order as advice, top 8 first, bagged them in sections, less chance of confusion, when I replace.
I wacked it a few times with no success, but...upon reading Haynes Manual, says there's a pry point, inside the crankcase, so inserted my screwdriver and gently, twisted it, and like a dream it separated.
After many damaged heads, and over tightened screws, the Holy Grail is in sight......
Still not removed the cylinder block though
It's a 1997 XJ600 S
