Hey all,

I'm looking at buying a 93 Seca ii next week and have some questions about its condition before I settle up. If you could please read through and let me know if I'm making the right decision.

Back story:
I did a quick walk around the night before I did full meet up and surveyed for any significant damage- all looked ok. I did some research on price from nada and kbb for my area and the price was listed from 700 to 1700 with 1200 as average- asking prices on CL was about 1600 to 2000. I went in armed with the radare''s buying guide and checked the usual boxes. The bike has 28,xxx miles and has had 4 owners. The first haday her for about 10 yrs and then changed hands every few years there on out.

Price:
List price was 1600 I got him down to 1250 (north jersey for reference on market)

Body and components:
Physically the bike is in very good condition with all fairings in place and in good condition. Some scuffs and scratches but no cracks or dents anywhere. The tires are in fair shape as well and have another season or two left in them (decent tread and good tack). Lights and electric seem good also. Sprocket and chain look OK too.

Engine:
Visually looked to be in good condition. No oil leak to be seen. We fired her up from cold and she took a try or two but turned over without a problem. After a minute of coaxing she took to idle on the choke and then after a few more minutes ran off the choke on her own. It sounded good, pretty quiet and no rattle.

Potential issues and concerns:
The idle was a little rough and hunted +/- 500 rpm at about 1500. The guy didn't know much about bikes but said I can adjust the idle- i read the forums here on it and it might help but not sure. I'm thinking the carbs probably need to be cleaned and I have no clue if it's been jetted.

The throttle response was a little strange. After the bike warmed and was in neutral I'd roll on the throttle and it would pick up then surge from about 2000 to 4000 and then hang at 4000 when I'd release it.

Also the friction zone on the clutch is very far back (towards the bars).

So all said and done what do you all think?
