front head lights and indicators.

Hello. I am having a problem with my xj600 1993. my front end electricals. My front headlight doesnt work on full beam. Only the sidelight. The front and rear indicators come on solid when i switch the main beam on. When im riding if i press the pass button or turn my lights on, the rev counter drops to zero. Also the rear indicators flash really fast, but nothing happens with the front ones. I have had a look and checked all the wires i can see and there doesn't seem to be any severed wires and im not sure were the earth is. I have a haynes but i am having a little trouble chasing the wires through. The last thing iwant is to take it to a garage and be charged a fortune. Any help will be very much appreciated.
