So after trying 2 different aftermarket valve cover gaskets, I am still getting a pretty significant leak that is really messing the engine. I need to get the old girl back up and running for good as I am thinking about lending her to a friend who is just learning to ride.

So I'd like to know where you've gotten your VCG's, and whether they sealed well upon re-installation

I am currently using this one included in a kit from ebay seller cruzinimage_co

The rubber felt fairly hard and cheap, but it seemed to seal a bit better than the other aftermarket one I bought. It is leaking though.

The first one I tried was from Ebay seller aughacashel. It was a nice feeling softer rubber, and I thought it'd be good, but it didn't seal hardly at all, so I went with the kit gasket instead.

At this point, I could buy an OEM one for about $70, but I'm not convinced it will seal well, or I could try to bulk up this aftermarket seal with some yamabond (I'd run a bead on the flat side of the gasket to build it up a bit, kind of how I did for the valve cover bolt seals, see my project thread in my signature).

Any thought on those 2 options?

Where did you get your VCG?
