Front headlight and gauge lights not working

So I've gone a whopping 163 miles on my Xj. And have been fixing what comes up. But I just noticed the backlights on the speedo and tach stopped coming on along with the headlight (low and high beam). I checked fuses and didn't notice any bad wires. I even put new bulbs in the backlight to test it. But the neutral light still comes on. What controls the headlight and the backlights? Brake, rear running and blinkers all work fine.
