Hey guys,
Well I final did the starter gear and clutch gear replace and fired the 92 xj600 up.
I was tuning it and getting carbs synced.
And it died.
So I checked fuel, its fine.
But no spark.
So first thing I checked was pulse it had a small crack where it mounted to metal but I figured I would hold.
sure enough it had broken free and the white/ red wire was separated.
So I figured that has to be the problem.
I checked to see if timing mark was on at top dead and it is. I removed valve cover and cam chain is good and camshaft are rotating.
I checked fly wheel and its turning.
So doesn't seem like anything internal.
I got a used pulse and installed and no spark.
I by passed kick and neutral switch, all fuses are good.
I have power to coils.
I put a test light on pick up and have no light when cranking.
I did notice the timing plate were the tips would pass the pulse have wear marks like maybe when pulse came loose it got rounded little.
How close do they have to be when they pass buy pulse, pick up?
There are almost touching.
Could this plate cause pulse to work?
Maybe the wire touched metal and shorted cdi?
Looks like the white/red and white/green go to cdi.
So close a bumper to hear it run and not get to drive after all that work.
How does it work?
Is it timing plate pass by pickup , send signal to cdi, to coils -plugs and tell it when to fire?
I am at a loss was running great till pick up broke off figured that had to be problem .
