Earlier this year, I bought a Chinese-made headlight for PBT. It looked identical to the Delkevic model I had on my black bike years ago and I had good luck with the Delkevic unit. The headlight arrived, looked to be fairly well constructed, except for a slight mis-assembly. So I took it apart to reassemble it correctly. That's when I noticed the lens wasn't sealed to the reflector, Just held with a crimp ring. I sealed the lens to the reflector with some silicone to keep the rain out.

Last night, I started the bike and let it run 10 to 20 minutes. In that short amount of time, the heat from the bulb completely melted the reflector. I'll have autopsy photos later but I suspect the Chinese aren't using a high-temperature plastic for the reflectors (such as the Japanese who they copied, did).

Based on this experience, I say, AVOID the Chinese 7" round headlights. I've purchased a Delkevic headlight to replace it and will report back on my experiences as to whether they are still good options for a headlamp conversion.
