I bought a carb off eBay and ended up having to do a complete tear down soak and rebuild on it. All the passages are clean everything operates smoothly and I believe the floats are set to the right height. As others have mentioned the floats seemed to be set significantly above 8mm. After much cursing I even got the whole thing seemingly correctly assembled. I found the easiest way to remove the Jis screws was by filing two edges to grip with pliers.

On start it idles but a little bit rough then after warm up dies. After 10 minute warm up it will only run with choke fully on at about 4000 rpm.

Any possibility this could be a vacuum leak or the fact I didn't sync before connecting fuel or something minor?

I guess I'll fiddle with it a little more with the bb sync method and ir thermometer. The intake boots don't seem to fit over the carb body at all. Kinda stumped and frustrated with it hahaha.
