Hi All,
Looking for some advice on my headlight bulb, it keeps blowing!
Quick history;
I bought the bike a few weeks ago and did some work on it including refitting the clocks and replacing the headlight.
I ride with the headlight on at all times. I took the bike for a ride and lost all power 10 miles up the road. It appeared to be a charging issue as the battery was completely flat.
Checked alternator and rectifier/regulator. There was a problem with a 2 way current across one of the terminals on the rectifier/regulator so it was shot, replaced it and I'm now getting 14.8V across the battery at 5000rpm.
Started riding and the headlight bulb blew. I switched to high beam and that blew also. I have put in another bulb and that has also blown.
I am getting 14V across the headlight bulb (either beam).
The headlight fuse is, obviously, not blowing.
No other bulbs are blowing however the indicators do flash a bit fast (not sure what they are supposed to be like as I'm new to XJ's).
Has anyone had a similar problem or got any ideas what may be causing the issue?
Thanks
G
