Hey! So I'll just jump right in here...I have never owned a bike before but I recently fell in love with riding and I am looking to buy my first bike before winter hits!
I have been looking at a few bikes and trying to get a fell for shopping used bikes..
(the better the salesmen, the more worried I am! haha)
I recently found a 97 Seca XJ600 that looks to be in great condition, as opposed to some of the other Secas I have seen. The PO has had it regularly serviced by one of the bike shops in town and has never laid it down, purportedly. He says the engine/seals were redone last year by the bike shop, brakes and tires replaced this riding season and the clutch cable and battery have been changed as well as a grease and clean of the chain. He is asking 1400; saying the only apparent issue is cosmetic, a few small cracks in the plastic and a scuff on the right front fender. (From previous previous owner..)
I am very interested in this bike! Should I be? I am looking for a bike that I can use for my main source of transportation, commuting, when the weather permits of course.. I also would love a bike with this aggressive look but forgiving nature. Is this even the right choice for me based on my idea of a good first bike?
Thanks so much!
P.S. an entire community based around a type of bike...Awesome!!
