I have been lurking around the forum for some time now and must say there's a lot of good stuff. I'm especially admiring the complete restorations/rebuilds in the project section and would love to be able to do something like that one day.

I bought an XJ600S about a month ago but have not ridden it yet - not as the pilot anyway. The reason for this is that I have not yet finished taking my drivers license. At the moment there's a pretty long waiting time for taking the final driving test. Hopefully it will not take too long, as winter is on it's way. Anyway, here is a picture:

It was first registered in 1993 so I guess it is either a '92 or '93 model. It has 38000 km (~23600 miles) on the clock and seems to be in overall good mechanical condition. Fork dust seals are pretty busted though and there are some problems with the brakes. The front brake is very spongy, so that will have to be sorted very soon. Also the breaking light is unreliable. I have found that the rear brake light switch will sometimes stick, so the brake light is on all the time. I have ordered a new switch. The wires to the front brake light switch seems to be loose near the switch, so perhaps the connector need to be re-soldered.

Besides that, there are some non-critical cosmetic issues. As you might be able to tell from the picture the seat cover is pretty ugly. The paint on the plastics (except the fender) is dull. So is the windshield. I think the sun is to blame for these things.

I hope to fix and maintain as much as possible myself, but some tasks can be somewhat complicated as I do not have a workshop at my disposal where I currently live (the picture is not from my home). Because of this and the fact that I'm a novice when it comes to motorcycles, I guess a full rebuild is not going to happen any time soon ;)
