I have been running Mobil1 10W40 Synthetic motorcycle-specific oil in my '92 for the past 5k or so, with HiFlo HF303 filters and all has been well. It shifts positively and it looks pretty good at the drain intervals. I'm thinking about running Rotella T6 in my '97 to bring the oilchange costs down a bit, but may stick with Mobil1 in it too.
My biggest concerns for oil are cold startups and protection when I'm riding in stop-and-go in 100F weather.
