Hey guys. I recently purchased new turn signals for the XJ. The ones that were sent stated on eBay that they were for the right year and model and would work. When I got them, I noticed that they only had two cables, instead of two with three cables.
Anyways, I was able to get the back lights, which was more important to me because the rear ones were in horrible condition. One turn signal was snapped and the cables for the other one was damaged really bad from rubbing on the tire.
When I connected the front left turn signal, I saw that there was three cables, brown, black, and blue (maybe blue with a purple strip?). So I do know that the black is ground, brown is for the turn signal, and blue is the "parking" light. Since I know that the blue was parking, I thought I should be able to skip that connection. So I connected the brown and black cables. When I tested, I was able to turn the left turn signal on and everything worked properly. When I turned on the right turn signal, all four signals blinked. So I was playing around and switched the brown to the blue cable. This time the right turn signal would turn on both the right front and both rear turn signals. So I tried to jump the blue and brown cables together, and test again. I think I got the same result, but don't entire remember. I do know that it didn't work as it should have.
So does anyone have any advise on what I should do? Does this only happen because I have the right front turn signal still wired with all three wires? I remember having issues with the turn signals when I first purchased the bike due to the brown wire on the front left not being connected properly.
