Hello all, I checked my valve clearances today, at 17k miles it was a just little overdue for the 16k mile check.
Clearances should be Intake 0.11-0.15 mm (0.004-0.006 in), Exhaust 0.21-0.25 mm (0.008-0.010 in).
Cyl #1 IN .127 mm .005 in
EX .203 mm .008 in
Cyl #2 IN .076 mm .003 in
EX .203 mm .008 in
Cyl #3 IN .063 mm .0025 in
EX .229 mm .009 in
Cyl #4 IN .127 mm .005 in
EX .203 mm .008 in
As you can see some of them need to be adjusted while a few others are close to needing adjustment. However, I couldn't get the shims out to check their sizes, I'm not sure how you guys are able to do it. The lever tool kept slipping off the shim holder. I had bought the Kawasaki two part lever and holder tools. I even tried what one guy did in a youtube video of putting a cable tie inside to hold the valve open, that didn't work for me either. After working on it for over 3 hours with no success, I finally just put it all back together as I was getting pretty hot and I needed to have it back together for my ride to work monday.
Any ideas/suggestions, Tony
