Sadly my bike has been laid down quite a few times. And each time the handlebars slapped the tank and now I have dents on both side. And to make matters worse the tank is starting to rust pretty bad in the bottom and I have one pinhole that started to leak last year. I used a temporary fix but don't believe I have long before the rest of the tank starts to have problems. I don't really mind the dents in the tank because the bike still rides and if I worried about looks of a bike I would probably have a fancier bike than a seca. But with the rusting in the bottom I worry. I have searched high and low for a gas tank that is in good condition, but most seem to be as bad as mine or worse. I have seen a couple people have cut out the rusting bottom and welded replacement patches in there. Basically to get down to it I was curious of the whole process of cutting the tank and welding the patches in there. I have welding experience, but have never welded a gas tank. I also was thinking when/if I cut rust off, maybe I use that as a chance to also pop out the dents a bit. Thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated.
