On my XJ600 classic the battery died. So I checked and noticed all the batteryfluid was gone. I couldn't find any cracks or leaks from the batterycase. I installed a new battery and measured the voltage, 17.3 stable while reving the engine.
Ofcourse this is too much. I thought about the regulator, maybe its broken but could it also be something else? a bad ground connection, a broken diode or might i be something else?
