Sadly, my bike had been sitting up on its center-stand in my garage for several months just waiting for me to fix some carburetor issues. But this week, I finally got all that sorted out, and now the engine runs great. So, I went to take it out for a ride today for the first time in a long time.

But now I've found that when I shift out of neutral and into gear, the rear wheel completely locks up regardless of whether or not I'm pulling in the clutch lever. So, the bike rolls around fine in neutral, and when I pull in the clutch lever on the handlebars, I can see the cable sliding in and out of the clutch cover. But it doesn't seem that the clutch is actually dis-engaging, because the bike just seems to get stuck in gear when I shift out of neutral (regardless of whether or not the keys are in it).

Before letting the bike sit up in neutral for an extended period of time, I never really had any problem shifting gears (other than occasionally having to roll the bike back & forth a little bit to get it into neutral). So, is it possible that something would basically lock itself in place over a period of time and ultimately prevent the clutch from functioning properly?

I tried adjusting the clutch cable as much as possible, but that didn't help. I've never had to take the clutch cover off a motorcycle, and I wouldn't really know what to look for if I end up having to. So, if anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks in advance.
