I've been getting mixed readings about the stock seat being used for long rides. As my seat needs a little foam replacement and a new cover, I was thinking about ways to make it more comfortable. If I stick with the soft foam, it doesn't give much support. If I go with a more firm foam, it's not as comfortable for long rides. I'm getting ready to move and am looking for a new mattress when I get a jolt of inspiration. What if I use a firm foam to set the shape for the seat, then cut out a section for the main and passenger positions? Within those cutouts I would place a gel pack, preferably bought, and then had a small layer of foam to create a uniform surface to upholster over?

So I have 2 main questions.
1. Has anybody ridden with a gel seat?
2. Do you think this would work?
