So i'm getting very anxious to ride my bike! Who's with me?! But to get to the point of this thread, I've had problems with my clutch. I got it out and fired the bike up a few weeks ago and took it for a short ride and re-discovered some issues:
First, the tension on my clutch cable has always been very tight. So tight that after not riding it for a while my hand hurts from pulling on the clutch lever. I've tried to adjust the cable and have had no luck. I personally feel like there should be a lot less tension (based off of my brother's two bikes). I don't know how much tension there should be so i figured i could ask some smarter guys.
Second, sometimes it feels as though my clutch is slipping; when i am shifting into my higher gears, i engage the clutch, shift gears, and hit the gas. But sometimes it feels like the bike doesn't want to take off, like the clutch is still engaged. And when I say sometimes, i mean sometimes ha. Like during most of the last summer it ran great! But then this fall after it sat for a little it acted up again. I don't know if i should be trying different oil or if anyone's else's bike does this.
*I'm not running synthetic oil, i'm pretty sure I have 30W in it. Also, i rebuilt the clutch early last spring-(new friction plates and cleaned the existing clutch plates. I did it on a budget, so couldn't replace everything).
Any information/suggestions/ideas about this problem will be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot!
