I just found out what the problem is with the exhaust on my XJ600. On the 51J that I drive, the exhaust gathers from four into two into the two dampers. There are two connections between the two pipes right before and right after the stand. All primary pipes seem to be the same length. The pipes from the inside cylinders are connected up with a 90 degree turn into the pipe of the outside cylinder. Those bends are completely gone. I have seen cheeses with fewer holes.
Anyway, this whole thing has made me think. I can try to rebuild those turns and the two H connections that connect the two sides of the exhaust, or I can go all out and try to build an exhaust that fits to a single damper.
Any thoughts on how to build a new exhaust with similar characteristics to the original one?
