Handlebar question

I did a search of the forum but couldn't find anything about this anywhere. I'm considering going to clip-ons or clubman bars when I trim down my front fairing but I'm not sure about what height I'm going to like. Has anyone tried flipping and inverting their stock handlebars to get a lower clubman style feel? I''m guessing they will probably hit the tank and you won't get full lock to lock steering but does anyone know how much of the steering would be lost?
