Oil Light comes on and off!!

I call upon the XJ gurus to assist a noob :help: .... so this started happening recently, i start the bike up, let it warm up a couple mins then oil light goes on, so i turn the key off then start it then it turns off then after a couple mins turns back on. Today on the ride to work it turned on and after a mile or so turned off. I checked the oil level and its where it should be... HALP!, thanks in advance
