There was a rattling/knocking noise from the clutch area on my XJ600s when I bought it with 21k on the clock (probably genuine judging by the old MoTs). I stripped the clutch and as expected found the oil pump drive gear on the back of the clutch basket loose. I made up a new oversize pin and it was all nice and firm. Found nothing else obviously wrong though the plates and springs were all close to but above minimum spec. Sadly now its back together I still have a rattle on tickover which reduces significantly but not entirely if I pull the clutch lever in. On the move there is no problem and no trace of clutch slip or drag.
Am I stuck with this or is there something else I should be looking at?
