In the next coming weeks, myself and a buddy of mine who has some performance headwork knowledge will be experimenting with a Seca II head to see what kind of performance modifications can be done to it.

It is simply to better understand the science behind motorcycle heads and their limits, not because we feel that the Seca II should be any faster. But if we do squeeze out some extra power, then we're doing something right.

Modifications will include:

Image Head porting

Image Head polishing

Image Back cut valve stems

Image Machining head surface for higher compression

There really is not a whole lot to work with on the Seca II head, much less a motorcycle head in general. They're small, fragile, and already designed to perform as best they can. However, after closely examining the head, it might allow some small changes that might make a big difference.

Changes we'd like to see:

Image Small increase in power

Image Throttle response improved

Image Power curve modified, mainly the elimination of flat spots

Stay tuned.

(I will smack the first person who says to just buy a sixteen valve bike. You're missing the point.)
