Hi guys, I'm new here. Thanks for letting me join. I need help please. I have an xj600 I am just putting the engine back together after changing an exhaust valve.
The problem is the camshaft timing.
I set it up as the Haynes manual says but when I install the cam tensioner the dots are back from tdc by about 3 mm.
I took it apart again, reset every and tried moving the dots on the camshaft forward about the same distance, I installed the tensioner and the dots are tdc but the camshaft moved about 5 mm.
Have I bent the valves? Or done some other damage? How can I get it right.
