I've been browsing this site for a few months as I've been tuning up my Seca, and thought I'd introduce myself. I bought mine off of craigslist about a year ago with 6k miles on it (it had been in storage by the previous owner and hadn't been registered since 2004). It runs ok, except that it's slow to warm up and finicky at low throttle. Although, it's very comfortable on the highway!
Well, I have about a month of free time before I move to LA (just graduated college), and I thought I'd try get it running smoothly so I can rely on it to commute a few days of the week.
Here's the bike:

The overall condition is good, seems like it was inside for most of its life. rubber isn't cracked, plastic isn't faded, etc. But it does look like it's been down at least twice, as it has scratches on both sides and a cracked fairing. For me, that's not really a big deal - I just want the thing to run well.
This week I followed radare's carburetor rebuild guide, and ended up with these:

I also swapped out the damper which was feeling a bit soggy for a vstar replacement, which was interested because my bike has no center stand. (If center stands are being sold on this site I'm very interested!). You might get a kick out of my solution for lifting the frame to get the shock in:

Not pretty, but it worked. I used that rod to crank the rope taught like a tourniquet.
I also changed out the plugs and put a new air filter in. Hoping to start the bike up tomorrow after setting the carbs up -- we'll see it it's running any better!
Anyway -- happy to be on the forum,
