I have about three acres that I keep mowed. A couple days ago, I pulled the riding mower out of storage so I could tackle the dandelions. It didn't want to crank. I’d get a small turn from the engine, then nothing. Figured the battery was too low to crank it so I jumped it. I was able to get it to crank over. After a few tries, it started spinning like it’s supposed to. But I noticed fuel pouring out of the muffler.
I think it was hydrolocked. I should have checked first. It started up, idled fine and seemed normal so engaged the blade and started mowing. I made it 6 feet. It died and blew out the biggest cloud of white smoke.
It restarted and was puffing white smoke as it idled. I let it run a moment trying to figure out what was wrong when it died again, making another cloud of white smoke.
Mower died in a puff of smoke
