Today's post is about windscreens. I wanted one that would offer a tiny bit of protection from the wind. Nothing much. I like having my head in the airflow. Anyway, while searching eBay for my usual search terms, I stumbled across a National Cycles Flyscreen. These things are usually way too expensive for what they are, but this one was being sold cheap as it had once been installed and was missing its hardware. Not a big deal for me since whatever hardware it would have come with wouldn't work on my bike anyway. So I snagged it.
I drew up a set of brackets and printed them out on the 3D printer. I went through a couple of design iterations and this is what I came up with. It uses a 3-piece design held together by screws and thread-serts. I went that route so I could make changes to only one part of the bracket and not have to print the whole thing, since they take about an hour and 45 minutes to print.

Here it is all mounted up. It's rock solid. I was initially planning to use the printed parts as a template and make permanent mounts out of aluminum but I don't think I need to. These are ABS plastic. They should work fine, environment wise. I'll probably paint them for UV protection.
I can't speak to the protection this screen offers. I doubt it'll be much. But will share that with you all when I know.
