I’ve had a pair of Oxford Heaterz (yes, that’s what they call them in the US market  ) on the XJ for the last 10 years and they’re great. On a ride last year, though, they gave up the ghost as I rode (in sleet) over Wolf Creek pass.

I went looking for new heated grips and wanted to stay with Oxfords. I was happy to see that they’d updated the electronics and now sold them in a ‘retro’ version. The new grips no longer need the second control box so the wiring is cleaner. They now have those threaded weather-tight connectors too.

I had these shipped from the UK via Amazon. The set me back $90. It seems a bit expensive (especially if you’ve never had heated grips before) but it is worth the expense.

I installed these this morning before heading out on a ride with Ed. I glued them to the bars with epoxy. To help that cure, I connected a battery charger to my battery and turned them on to high. After about 5-mins, both grips were roughly 185F. Seriously!
