The time has come for me to start breaking the bike down and restore, upgrade, and slightly modify. For the most part, this is going to be a big project for me. Although I can (and have many times) work on bikes and do a few primary things, never have I gone as far as I am with my XJ. Regardless, all that I'm going to be doing isn't all that much compared to many of what some here have done. Here's the low down:
- Completely dismantle
- Change the fork springs
- Paint the tank and fairings a darker yellow
- Paint the frame black
- Paint the engine black
- Rejet the carbs
- Install steering damper
- Prettify the handle bar and controls
- Clean up the instrument cluster
- Repair/replace any needed bits
- Other stuff that's not come to mind
