Miles per Tank?

Hey I was just wondering how many miles you guys get out of a tank of gas? I know mpg will depend on your riding style and conditions but about how many miles can I expect between fill ups? Since the bike is new to me I don't want to run out of gas because I don't know. I was thinking that it's about 180 miles based on 40 mpg at 4.5 gallon tank capacity. Is that right? Maybe more but start looking fo rthe next stop after about 180mi?
