I'm not sure where to post this but what are ya'll suggestions about breaking in new tires.
I've been told that the mold release make them slick and to take it easy when its wet.
I've read that thats no longer the case.
I've had brand new tires and scrubbed then with sandpaper and been fine.
I've had brand new tires and done nothing and been fine.
This morning my girlfriend went around a right hand corner at low speed, lost traction fishtailed and low sided on the left side breaking her collar bone in the process.
The tires were new and slippery but the road was dry. It was her second ride on it, first since we got it.
I feel like I should had scrubbed the tires by hand, or taken the first ride or something.
I know the clutch wasn't adjusted where it was on her last bike and this bike has more power so she probably was on the gas more and clutch less than she thought.
What do you all do to prep your brand new tires for their first ride?
