I need to replace the seals on my fork. I've read The Wall post and it seems pretty straight forward. However, I'm still a little apprehensive about it since this would be the first major repair work I've done. My BIL is a diesel mechanic who likes to drink my beer and eat my food so I'm sure I can have him help me.
I got 2 quotes:
- $100 flat rate plus seals/oil. This is a pretty trusted mechanic around here. He also only charges $50/carb for rebuild
- $45/hour at 3 hours plus seals/oil. I thought this was ridiculous as a pro shouldn't take 3 hours.
What do you guys think? Knowing my skill level, is this something I should take on? 1Oldman's post has about $50 in parts plus another I would need to get another $50 in "tools" that I don't have PLUS $30 for a HF swing arm stand (which I really do need anyways).
