Hello from NC! Help please lol

Hi, I've love this forum and have been trying to do as much research on here as I can lately in hopes to soak up at least some of the knowledge here! I acquired a 92 XJ 600 from a friend of mine a little while back and from the get go he did say some minor things needed fixing but nothing major. I ended up having to order a set of carbs, which were a set from the UK so I'm hoping they'll work lol, I haven't been able to get the bike to do much other than a click from the starter when I bump the solenoid.. When I hit the switch it doesn't do anything other than a red oil light coming on.. And yes it's in neutral, even tried with the kick stand up and holding the clutch.. I pulled the starter and bumped the solenoid and it works so I don't think it's the starter.. The guy I got it from said it was doing the same thing before and he replaced the solenoid and that fixed it.. BUT, I am a little worried there could be something else wrong.. Also if I put the bike in gear and hold the clutch it doesn't move so I'm guessing I'm gona have to replace that as well.. I'm dieing to hear this thing run so any one of you gurus that could give some advice that would be greatly appreciated!! lol Thanx in advance!
