So i'm about to try it so thought i would post up how it goes.

If it doesn't go to plan, at least i tried, and can just delete the thread lol

So from the go, before i even bought the shock, i could see that the gas cylinder is going to be a problem, its going to hit something / Everything. :razzled:

I haven't actually stripped my bike far enough to see the top shock mount on the XJ so i don't know what its going to hit yet, can anyone tell me that has stripped there bike? I'm going to guess battery box, Hopefully not the frame?

I will also look at just mounting it with the gas canister pointing the other way.

Soooooo

This is what i have bought for £15 ($23):

I did a few measurements and jotted them down, here they are compared to the XJ ones.

Obviously that's not a picture of a ZX9 shock but you get the idea.

I will need 2 x 1.5 mm washers for the top mount, Should be able to pic these up in stainless steel from local hardware store in the morning.

2 x 4 mm spacers for the bottom, will have a look in the hardware store for these but recon i'm going to have to make these from some ally rod.

And bore the top and bottom mount holes out to 12 mm, easily enough done.

The overall width of the shock is the same as the XJ one so there's no issue there.

The ZX9 shock is actually 50 mm (1.97) taller which will lift my tail by about 4 Inch, which exactly the kind of elevation i'm after.

We will address any side stand issues that may arise when it happens, but i have a longer FZR 1000 side stand anyway which looks like it will bolt right on.

Game on!!! :tool:
