carb help

ok the other day i thought i would take and clean and reset the fuel/air mix screws on the carbs. when i took off the carb i wanted to look at the diaphragms. so i clean the diaphragms to. so i reset the mix screw to 2.5 turns out. when i put the bike together the bike sounded great at an idle, but when i when for a ride it bogged down like the carbs were out of sync. the bike only boggs down on accelerating at all. but at any speed i only have to crack the thro. to stay at any speed (40 or 85mph). so i took it to a motorcycle shop and ask for it to be sync and to look at the mix. 2 hours later he called and said it was done. when i got there he rode it down the street and he said it rode fine. when i went for a ride it did not change a thing still boggs. so i went home my brother said when i past him he said it smelled like rich/lean gas(very strong)(he does not know). so i put #1 @#2 plugs they were alittle white(lean). but i needed to ask others before i touch it again.
