First time sharing on here. I couldn't have gone this far if it weren't for all the awesome posts and how to's.
This is my first bike build. When I bought this bike 13 months ago I'd never riden a motorcycle. I bought this bike because it was cheap (it didn't run, and certainly didn't stay cheap), and i thought it would be something fun to use while learning how to ride. The plan was just to get her running again, get my mc license, and possibly mod/upgrade a little...then the pandemic hit, and I got bored!
Here's my xj600. I'm proud to say all work was done by myself with the exception of the leather work on the seat.
This is how she looked 13 months ago:
Front to back:
Pirelli sport demon tires
Rebuilt calipers, New pistons
Painted original forks
New fork seal (top 3 most annoying task)
Iron 883 fender with custom 3d printed mounting bracket
89 radian gauges - mounted with steering dampners
Custom 3d printed light gauge cluster - using leds with 0.5amp 12 v Reed relay with leds for neutral/oil level warning signals
7inch circular light with bullet style turn signals and a universal fairing
New handlebars
Leather wrap hand grips, custom dyed to match seat
Bar end mirrors
New hand levers
All paint was with a spray can. The blue is metal specs by duplicolor.
Custom rear fiberglass fender
New gas tank cap/petcock/fuel pump/hosing
Carbs were sonic cleaned, rebuilt, and rejected with 20 and 105s. Floats wet synced. Air fuel adjusted with color tune, and synced.
Timing chain set
Valve shims adjusted
Transmission basket pin replaced
Deleting 4-2-1 exhaust
Rebuilt (twice) rear calipers with new pistons.
New tail light
New electronic tray/rear fender
Battery and electronics relocated
Vstar (I think) rear shocks
Custom 3d printed license plate
New chain
