I actually registered onto the forum in March but for some reason couldn't log on. Nonetheless, I got a lot of useful advice and thanks to those who keep it going. Just this week, my logon from March worked!
Whooppee. I've not been without a motorcycle since I was 20 and now a pensioner. Too many past machines to list but still have the Matchless 500 single. It needs major engine work so bought the XJ as a stop gap for the summer and over winter. Found I really like it. Apart from the roughness at 4k to 4.5k revs and 6 gears - four's enough.
XJ600S, 1996, second owner, full Givi luggage, bought at 14k miles (roughly, memory failure) genuine authenticated miles. Only put about 1.4k miles on it so far. Changed oil, filter, tyres, fitted fenda extanda, LED rear light and a few small fettling jobs. Passed MoT last month, no advisories. COVID-19 a PITA.
When I get to 16k I'll replace the brake pipes, change the oil again, fit a new air filter, check the valves etc. While on with this I'll also fit LED driving lights to the engine guard, USB and cigarette sockets (one box already in hand), heated grips, do something with the screen which directs air straight at my visor.
Already seen such a lot of guidance on these jobs here on the forum.
Thanks
