First...thanks to all the how-to's on here, great photos, links, and writeups!

Bought the bike not knowing condition ('96) though supposedly would run :). Figured I'd check the petcock, pump, clean the carbs, new fluids and see if she'd start and run. Then deeper into the chain, brakes and tires.

Decided to leave the rack assembled and try the Pine Sol bath idea. Everything came out pretty clean....and only a few oop's ....lol

Someone has been in here before as the A/F mix screws were uncovered and several of the screws were already rounded out. First look...the 2 carb's on the left (choke plunger side) were stained and dark looking, the 2 on the right looked great/clean. Not sure what this is telling me...but in Radare's writeup on his '97....looked like the same thing in the "before" photos. His emulsion tubes stuck on those 2 and my enrichment is discolored like his was...Whats up with that :)

First oop's....the plunger was stuck on my needle float, so threw it in the Berryman's. Didn't realize the seat on that is rubber until I pulled it out :(. Under my magnifying glass...didn't look damaged though...but plunger was still sticky (so was the problem carb). 2 of them on the way...should get Friday. Local dealer was actually cheaper than bikebandit on these (by $8 each).

Everything else went well...pulled the A/F mix screws and 1 was missing the washer. Not sure what to do there....maybe they will have something similar at the hardware store when I go get socket screws for the covers?

Anyhow...still looking good on all parts being here this weekend so I can see if she fires up (need a battery too...grr) #20 pilot jets coming, radare's Polaris fuel pump, and a new petcock (the old 1 came off some other bike....no prime position). Will hit the hardware store and the small engine repair shop for some fuel line this afternoon.
